Magic in a Bottle at City Winery

I had the great privilege of performing at City Winery last month in NYC alongside some fantastic magicians. David Corsaro, a good friend, and talented performer, runs a monthly magic show at City Winery called “Magic in a Bottle.” Each month he brings in 3-4 of the most talented performers in the area, and they put on a fantastic show. I was excited when David asked me to perform in the September show. I rarely get to do a public show since most of my work is at private events. So when I found out I would be in the show, you better believe my friends and family got their tickets.

I had never been to City Winery, but I was blown away by the venue we were performing at. They have two main performance spaces, The Loft and The MainStage. The show was in The Loft, which provided a cabaret-like atmosphere, perfect for a magic show.

The Loft pre-show

Once 7:30 pm rolled around, it was showtime. The stage was set, and it was time to wait in the Green Room. Magicians Sean Dylan and Michael Goldman were out in the audience performing close-up magic for audience members as they enjoyed some pre-show cocktails and food. Mentalist Mark Zacharia took the stage as Emcee and opened the show with incredible feats of mind-reading. He divined thought of words and memories and created hallucinations in audience members. It was a tough act to follow, but I was up next. I stood backstage with David, and he wished me luck, and I took the stage. I’m a big Billy Joel fan, so I like to have a song of his play as I walk onto the stage. That night, I chose Big Shot, which I thought was fitting.

Opening moments of my act.

Every time I get to perform, I constantly remind myself how lucky I am. I’m fortunate that I get to do what I love and that I get to call this my job. I performed about 25 minutes of my favorite material and enjoyed every second. Another magician friend, Tom Kennedy, was in the audience and helped me video the act. I edited some highlights from the show together for you to watch. Enjoy!

After my act was done, I snuck out into the audience from backstage to watch David close the show. He was fantastic, of course, and he even pulled some of my family members onto the stage. It was a memorable evening, and I can’t wait for the next one! The show ended around 9 pm, and we got to hang out in the audience and thank everyone for coming.
